A boy joins his father on the fishing boat and learns that when everyone helps, even the biggest catch comes home.

Hamza was finally big enough to go fishing on Baba’s wooden dhoni.

At sunrise they sailed out onto the wide, sparkling sea, the sail full of wind.

“Can I catch the biggest fish all by myself?” asked Hamza. Baba chuckled. “Let’s see.”

Hamza tried to pull the heavy net alone. He tugged and he puffed — but it would not budge.

“On a dhoni,” said Baba, “no one fishes alone. Everyone has a job to do.”

So Hamza held the line steady while Baba and the crew all heaved together. “Heave-ho!”

Hamza splashed the water to guide the fish, and shouted “This way!” with all his might.

Little by little, all their hands working as one, the net rose up — full of silver fish!

“We did it TOGETHER!” laughed Hamza, as the whole catch shimmered in the sun.

Everyone cheered and shared cool water and sweet mangoes on the swaying deck.

They sailed home with the sunset, the dhoni heavy and happy.

The whole island shared the catch that night — because together, our hands can do wonders.
